Primary teaching assistant Axcis are currently looking for a teaching assistant to work with a special needs student on a full time and on a long term commitment. This is starting as soon as possible and working 8:30-3:30 Monday to Friday. This work is at a primary school in the Bishopsworth area of Bristol. The student is diagnosed with autism and is said to be quite bright but her behaviours can present with some challenges, namely she can be a runner and go places that she shouldn't so needs consistent supervision. The school are looking for someone that is firm on boundaries and can keep up with her and provide her with the right level of expectations along with keeping her engaged with learning objectives. As with all people who work or want to work as a teaching assistant, we are looking for someone that has lots of patience, empathy and understanding. Good communication skills are important to make sure that challenges and objectives are followed and discussed between the TA, teacher and special needs co-ordinator. This post would be great for someone who likes a challenge and can foster good relationships well.
