Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with a reputable education trust based in Leeds. We're actively seeking dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to join the team on a permanent basis, starting in September. The school caters for diverse group of learners aged 4-16, delivering comprehensive support for individuals with autistic spectrum conditions, cognition and learning difficulties, and physical or sensory disabilities. The successful candidate will: Oversee and assist students with special needs and disabilities, ensuring their safety and enabling access to educational activities. Implement individual Education Health and Care Plans, Behaviour Plans, and Care Plans, addressing diverse needs. Foster physical and emotional well-being, social development, and positive values among students. Create and maintain a purposeful learning environment, minimising barriers to learning. Contribute to the evaluation of student progress and offer constructive feedback to both students and colleagues. Encourage cooperative interaction among students and actively engage them throughout the day. Liaise with parents, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Provide support during school activities, including transport, visits, trips, and out-of-school events. Assist classroom colleagues through admin processes and resources, actively participating in team meetings and planning discussions. To be successful in this role you will have: Have an NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning Experience of working with pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities Experience using a range of de-escalation techniques to support students in crisis – Team Teach Level training would be highly advantageous. Experience supporting students with complex communication needs – Makaton, PECS and knowledge of Intensive Interaction would be highly advantageous Patient, empathetic, and adaptable to the diverse needs of learners.
