Axcis are recruiting on behalf of a large mainstream secondary school in the St Helens area, who are currently on the lookout for a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll offer general in-class support to students spanning Key Stage 3 and 4, with a special emphasis on aiding those with challenging behaviour who may face exclusion risks. Responsibilities: Your role involves close collaboration with teachers to plan and deliver lessons, providing additional assistance to students in need. Whether it's individual or small group settings, you'll reinforce learning, offer guidance, and ensure students remain focused and engaged. You'll also play a role in managing challenging behaviour by implementing strategies and interventions directed by teachers or the SENCO. Collaborating with teachers and support staff, you'll help implement personalized plans for students requiring extra support due to challenging behaviour or exclusion risks. This may entail adapting materials, providing additional academic support, and monitoring student progress and behaviour to inform further strategies. Qualifications and Experience: Candidates should possess prior experience as a Teaching Assistant in a mainstream secondary school or similar environment. A solid understanding of supporting students with challenging behaviour and classroom behaviour management strategies is essential. Strong communication skills are crucial for effective engagement with students, teachers, and colleagues. Being able to work as part of a team, collaborate with professionals, and follow instructions is key. Relevant qualifications and certifications, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, would be advantageous.
