A thriving two-form entry primary school based Islington are looking for an enthusiastic 1:1 teaching assistant to provide support for a Reception pupil with Autism. This role will start in September 2020 and continue on until July 2021. The ideal teaching assistant will be a compassionate SEND TA who has previous experience supporting children with social communication and behavioural needs and can be calm and consistent when managing behaviour. You will be patient with a good sense of humour, and be someone who is always willing to go the extra mile for the children within your care You will also have a sound of understanding of working with children in EYFS or Key Stage 1 and experience using PECS to support communication is not essential but highly desirable. As a teaching assistant you will be working with the class teacher to provide a high level of support as well as fulfilling the pupil's EHCP. This is a full-time role to start in September 2020 and will continue on for the rest of the academic year. . About the role: o 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant - Reception pupil with Autism o Full time, (Mon-Fri) The ideal candidate: o Sound knowledge of the EYFS curriculum o Experience with Autism and Challenging Behaviour o A variety of communication skills to respond to the needs of the child. PECS experience is highly desirable but not essential.
