Axcis Education are working with a new, purpose built school in Winkleigh, in the centre of Devon to recruit an experienced, resilient and engaging English teacher that has experience teaching with primary aged pupils with autism who can display very challenging behaviour.
This is a full time role to teach small groups of pupils across general curriculum, as well as being a focussed English teacher. The school cater for primary and secondary aged pupils and group the children according to ability rather than age, so you will need to be prepared to work with children from KS1 and KS2. This school provide a creative & nurturing learning environment, in addition to a range of therapies that support student social development..
The school is based in a semi rural location, 45 minutes from Exeter, Barnstaple and Oakhampton. Attached to an existing primary special school with a great reputation, the new secondary building will house 20 KS3 to KS5 pupils who all display very challenging behaviours.
The school offer a very flexible environment where there is the opportunity for outside learning and a variety of alternative educational projects.
The candidate must be passionate and dedicated in their job role. The school have a lovely group of teaching assistants who will support and assist you in the classroom.
For this role, it is essential that you have QTS and prior experience in managing challenging behaviour with a compassionate and child centred approach.
This is a temporary to permanent role with a salary of £25,000 to £32,000 per annum on a 38 week (plus 6 inset days) contract.
