Secondary Teacher - Maths / English / Science - Special Needs School (SEMH)
Axcis Education is working with a new, purpose built school in Winkleigh, Mid Devon to recruit experienced, resilient and engaging Secondary Teachers that have experience of working within challenging behaviour, SEMH and ASD.
The school is based in a semi rural location, 45 minutes from Exeter, Barnstaple and Oakhampton. Attached to an existing primary special school with a great reputation, the new secondary building will house 20 KS3 to KS5 pupils who all exhibit extremely difficult behaviours.
Many of the pupils have been excluded from main stream education and this school provide a creative & nurturing learning environment, in addition to a range of therapies that support student social development.
The role will be to teach small groups of pupils across general curriculum or focus on Maths, English or Science. Supported by specialist LSA's, you will deliver creative lessons that engage the pupils.
The school offer a very flexible environment where there is the opportunity for outside learning and a variety of alternative educational projects.
For this role, it is essential that you have QTS and prior experience in managing challenging behaviour with a compassionate and child centred approach.
This is a temporary to permanent role with a salary of £25,000 to £32,000 per annum on a 38 week (plus 6 inset days) contract.
