JOB TITLE / ROLE:
Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor - South Gloucestershire - Role: SEND TA Jobs
Axcis are recruiting a behaviour management mentor/teaching assistant to work in a mainstream school with pupils with distinct challenging behaviour who are at risk of exclusion.
The secondary mainstream school, based in South Gloucestershire, are seeking a teaching assistant who isn't fazed by challenging behaviour to come into the school and support KS4 pupils who struggle with standard classroom activities. The next academic year sees many of these pupils working towards their GCSE's' and they require support to keep them focused and ensure their behaviour doesn't disrupt their learning. You may be supporting them in class as well as on a 1-1 basis in a specialist behaviour unit.
You will initially be employed to work at the school through the agency but may be taken on to a contract by the school if the opportunity arises. The role will commence in January but if you are free prior to then, depending on the clearing process it would be great to get you in for a few days to familiarise yourself with the school, staff and pupils.
The ideal candidates must be able to;
-Build strong and trusting relationships with the pupils
-Recognise unique triggers and diffusers
-Be able to deter irrational, disruptive and aggressive behaviour effectively
-Be creative and engaging when supporting the pupil with work in a classroom and on a 1:1 basis.
