Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Learning Mentor) Location: Bolton Length of Role: Academic Year Pay Rate: £89 – £110 per day Contract Type: Temporary Teaching Assistant (Learning Mentor) – Specialist SEMH Provision – Bolton We are recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant (Learning Mentor) to support students within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in Bolton. This long-term role will run for the full academic year and is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional social and emotional needs. This provision caters for students who may face barriers to learning due to behaviour, anxiety, trauma, or other SEMH-related challenges. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping them access education in a safe, structured and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs. • Build positive, trusting relationships to help students engage with learning. • Assist in developing and delivering personalised support plans and interventions. • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour strategies. • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams. • Support students during lessons, transitions, and throughout the school day. • Record progress and contribute to ongoing assessments and reviews. Requirements • Experience working with young people who have SEMH needs or behavioural challenges. • A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management. • Strong communication and de-escalation skills. • Ability to remain resilient and solution-focused in a dynamic environment. • Good literacy and numeracy skills. • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
