Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
1:1 Teaching Assistant Location: Yetminster, Dorset Pay: £14.25 – £15.10 per hour (depending on experience) Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Start Date: September Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential? A friendly and inclusive primary school in Yetminster is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team. The Role As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing tailored support to help them access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. Working alongside the class teacher and SENCo, you will play a key role in promoting inclusion and supporting the pupil's individual learning and development goals. Key Responsibilities • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN, adapting activities and approaches to meet their individual needs. • Work under the guidance of the class teacher to deliver high-quality learning support. • Encourage engagement, independence, and participation in classroom activities. • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. • Support the development of social, emotional, and communication skills. • Assist with behaviour management strategies, ensuring consistency and positive outcomes. • Help prepare learning resources and support classroom organisation. • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCo. • Contribute to the implementation and review of individual support plans and learning targets. • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. The ideal candidate will: • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEN. • Demonstrate a nurturing and adaptable approach to supporting learning and wellbeing. • Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with children, staff, and parents. • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
