Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant Position: Full Time Location: Secondary School, Newham, London Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant secondary school located in Newham, London. The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting students with ASD and be committed to helping every student achieve their full potential. As an ASD Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to create an inclusive learning environment and provide tailored support to students on the autism spectrum. Key Responsibilities: - Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with ASD, facilitating their social, emotional, and academic development. - Assist in the preparation of specialised teaching materials and resources tailored to the needs of students with autism. - Collaborate with teachers to implement IEPs and monitor students' progress. - Employ a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning activities. - Support students during transitions between activities and classes, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. - Foster a caring and supportive classroom environment that respects each student’s individual differences. Qualifications & Experience: - Previous experience working with students with ASD, particularly in a secondary school setting. - Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD and the strategies to support them effectively. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and parents. - Patience, compassion, and resilience with a positive approach to problem-solving. - A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
