Job Title: Autism Learning Support Assistant
Axcis are working with a special school in and around Exeter who are looking for experienced Learning Support assistants to work in a primary and secondary school supporting children and young people with Autism. The students are mixed abilities, verbal or non-verbal, routine is important to them and any changes in routine need to be explained to them with enough notice. The schools we work with are lovely with supportive environments and have been described as having a positive and inclusive working ethos. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or adults with autism. You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to the children you will be working with, needing to establish a good working relationship with them. Resilience is an essential trait, some of the children have social and emotional needs. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. The successful candidate will be creative, flexible and patient as well as being compassionate and empathetic.
