Job Title: Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant - Autism Resource Base
Are you passionate about supporting children with autism and additional needs? We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Taunton with a well-established Autism Resource Base (ARB). This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young learners by helping them access education in a way that works for them.
About the Role:
Working within the school's Autism Resource Base, you will:
• Provide individualised support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs.
• Assist with structured routines, sensory regulation, and positive behaviour strategies.
• Work closely with teachers and SEND professionals to deliver tailored learning plans and therapeutic approaches.
• Support pupils in developing social communication, emotional regulation, and independent life skills.
• Help create a calm, predictable, and inclusive learning environment that supports each pupil’s well-being and progress.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children with ASC or additional needs (in schools, care, or community settings)
• A calm, consistent, and patient approach to behaviour and emotional support
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• An understanding of sensory needs, communication strategies (such as PECS or Makaton), or a willingness to learn
• A genuine passion for supporting neurodiverse learners
• Team Teach or similar behaviour training (advantageous but not essential)
