Axcis is proud to be working with a specialist school in Somerset that supports pupils aged 4–19 with a range of learning disabilities and complex needs. We are seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and hands-on Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their dedicated team, supporting pupils across all Key Stages with varied and sometimes profound needs.
This role is ideal for someone with a calm and caring nature who understands the importance of personal care, routine, and tailored support.
What You'll Be Doing
Every day brings something different. You’ll work closely with individual pupils or small groups, helping them feel secure, understood, and included. Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils with complex needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing needs, or developmental delays
• Using communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual schedules to aid understanding
• Preparing pupils for transitions, managing anxieties, and recognising signs of distress
• Facilitating safe play and interaction at break and mealtimes
• Using de-escalation and sensory strategies when pupils become dysregulated
• Recording progress and sharing updates with teaching staff and families
