Role Overview:
The school is looking for a compassionate and dedicated full-time SEN teaching assistant.This position involves working with children aged 2 to 5 years old who have a range of SEN needs, including complex needs and ASD. You will work closely with a speech and language therapist and a team of 2 or 3 support staff per child, providing personalised care and educational support.
The successful candidate will assist with both educational and personal care needs, ensuring that each child has the support they need to thrive. You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team within a supportive and well-resourced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide one-on-one and group support to children with complex needs and ASD.
-Assist with personal care tasks as needed, including toileting and feeding.
-Work alongside the speech and language therapist to support communication development.
-Collaborate with 2 or 3 other support staff per child to deliver personalised care and education plans.
-Help implement individual learning targets and provide emotional and behavioural support.
-Monitor and record the children’s progress and report any concerns to the senior team.
-Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
Requirements:
-Experience working with children with special educational needs, including complex needs and ASD.
-Strong communication skills, patience, and a caring approach to working with young children.
-Ability to work effectively within a team and follow guidance from senior staff.
-Experience with personal care tasks (toileting, feeding, etc.).
-A passion for providing the best possible care and support for children in their early years.
-Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or SEN support are desirable but not essential.
-A DBS check on the update service is required.
