Job Title: Day-to-Day/Supply Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Day-to-Day/Supply Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across primary, secondary, and specialist provisions. This is a temporary position, working Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30, term-time only. Daily pay rates start from £83 per day, depending on experience and qualifications. As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to pupils aged 5 to 21 years, assisting with their educational and personal development. You will work with students with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), and Speech and Language difficulties. Your responsibilities will include: • Supporting students in both group and one-to-one settings. • Assisting with the implementation of tailored learning plans. • Encouraging independence and engagement in the classroom. • Providing personal care where necessary. • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment. Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have: • Previous experience working in a UK school or care setting. • Knowledge and experience of working with children and young adults with SEN. • A valid Child and Adult Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. • A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs. • The ability to work flexibly across different age groups and settings. Desirable Skills • Experience using PECS, Makaton, or other communication aids. • Training in Moving & Handling or Team Teach (or willingness to undertake training). • An understanding of sensory needs and strategies to support them.
