Interim Head of Business & Operations Location: N10 Contract: Interim / Fixed-term Duration: October – December 2026 Working pattern: Monday to Friday About the role We are looking for an experienced and proactive Interim Head of Business & Operations to join an education setting on an interim basis from October to December 2026. This is a key operational leadership role, supporting the effective running of the organisation and providing oversight across finance, operations, HR and estates/facilities. The successful candidate will be confident working across a range of complex business and operational matters and will be comfortable providing strategic oversight while also supporting day-to-day delivery. Key responsibilities The Interim Head of Business & Operations will be responsible for: Supporting the development and management of financial budgets, ensuring effective financial oversight and planning. Overseeing the day-to-day business and operational functions. Supporting and contributing to the management of complex HR cases, providing appropriate operational oversight and guidance. Overseeing facilities and estates, including the building, maintenance and associated operational requirements. Providing leadership and oversight to the facilities/estates team. Working collaboratively with colleagues and senior leaders to ensure the organisation operates effectively, safely and efficiently. Identifying operational issues and implementing practical solutions to improve processes and service delivery. About you We are looking for someone with strong experience in business operations, finance, HR and/or estates management, ideally within an education, charity, public sector or similarly complex environment. You will be: An experienced operational leader with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. Confident managing budgets and working with financial information. Experienced in handling sensitive and complex HR matters. Knowledgeable about facilities, estates and building management. Able to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A confident communicator who can build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Pragmatic, hands-on and able to provide effective leadership during a short-term interim assignment.
