Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Inclusion Support Assistant to join our dynamic team in Rochdale, Lancashire. This full-time role will require an individual who is passionate about supporting the mental health and inclusive education of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will assist in delivering targeted support through 1:1 sessions and small group interventions, and contribute to fostering a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to children with identified SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and improving their emotional well-being.
- Facilitate small group activities that promote social skills, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with teachers and the inclusion team to tailor support strategies for individual needs.
- Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and monitoring student progress.
- Participate in counselling sessions with students as needed, under the direction of qualified professionals.
- Contribute to the creation of an inclusive and supportive school culture that values diversity and promotes equality.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and a range of professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student well-being.
- Attend training and professional development opportunities relevant to the role and the needs of the students.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student support and progress.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and practices at all times, ensuring the safety and security of all students.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience providing support to individuals with SEMH needs in an educational setting or similar.
- A strong understanding of the requirements for inclusion and supporting mental health in young people.
- A relevant qualification in education, child care, counselling, or psychology is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude, with an ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to undergo a new check.
Working Hours: Full time, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
