Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead a school kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual who has a proven track record in kitchen operations and preferably has management experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the school kitchen, ensuring high standards of food preparation, quality, and hygiene.
- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals that meet the dietary requirements of students.
- Manage and maintain kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies and controlling food costs.
- Lead, manage, and develop the kitchen team, including conducting performance appraisals, training, and promoting a positive working environment.
- Ensure that all kitchen activities comply with health and safety standards and food hygiene regulations.
- Liaise with school administration, staff, and students to cater to special events or dietary needs.
- Conduct regular kitchen inspections and risk assessments to ensure a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with the senior management team to develop menus that align with the school's goals and budget.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a kitchen environment is essential; previous experience as a manager is highly desired.
- Ideally, possess experience working within a school setting or similar institution.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food hygiene.
- Ability to work within a budget and control costs.
- Relevant food hygiene qualification (e.g., Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate).
- A passion for creating healthy, balanced meals for children.
