Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant (Full-Time Driver Required) Location: Exeter, Devon Contract Type: Full-Time Salary: £92–£100 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: ASAP Make a Lasting Difference Are you a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young people? We are seeking a Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive team in Exeter, helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This rewarding full-time role involves supporting students who may have experienced trauma, adversity, or emotional challenges. Using trauma-informed approaches, you will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported. Please note: A full UK driving licence is essential, and applicants must be confident driving as travel between educational settings may be required. Key Responsibilities •Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for students with social, emotional, and educational needs. •Apply trauma-informed practices to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. •Support students in developing emotional regulation, resilience, confidence, and social skills. •Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals to meet individual student needs. •Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities and personalised interventions. •Monitor student progress and contribute to ongoing assessments and support plans. •Promote positive behaviour through consistent, restorative, and supportive approaches. •Build positive and trusting relationships that encourage student engagement and success. Essential Requirements •Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive as part of the role. •Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, alternative provision, or trauma-informed setting. •Understanding of how trauma can impact behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and learning. •Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting young people. •Strong communication and interpersonal skills. •Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. •Commitment to inclusive education and student-centred support. Desirable Skills and Experience •Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties, or adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). •Training or knowledge of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, or emotional regulation strategies. •Experience working within SEN, SEMH, or alternative education settings.
