Job Title: Learning Mentor – Alternative Provision
Location: Community-based (outreach role)
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Pay: £89–£95 per day
About the Role
We are looking for a resilient and compassionate Learning Mentor to join our Alternative Provision team. You will work with children and young people who have experienced trauma and present with SEMH needs and other learning difficulties.
This is a hands-on role supporting learners both in provision and through community outreach, helping them re-engage with education and develop positive coping strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with SEMH, trauma-related needs, and additional learning difficulties
Build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable learners
Deliver 1:1 and small-group mentoring
Support emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement
Work closely with staff, families, and external professionals
Carry out community-based outreach sessions
Requirements
Full UK driving licence and access to your own car (essential)
Experience working with SEND pupils or vulnerable adults
A trauma-informed and empathetic approach
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Resilient, adaptable, and calm under pressure
Committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Desirable (but not essential)
Experience in alternative provision, PRUs, youth work, or care
Training in trauma-informed practice or SEMH support
