This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin or develop a career in education, SEND, youth work, care, healthcare, or support work. No formal Teaching Assistant qualification is required, although experience supporting young people with additional needs is highly desirable. The role involves supporting students aged 16+ with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, communication needs, and complex learning needs. You will support learners both in the classroom and during vocational subjects, helping them develop independence, employability skills, confidence, and essential life skills. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND. • Support learners during vocational lessons including cooking, arts and crafts, life skills, community-based learning, and employability programmes. • Encourage participation, engagement, and independence in learning activities. • Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation. • Help students develop confidence, resilience, and practical skills for adulthood. • Use positive behaviour support strategies to promote engagement and achievement. • Support students during transitions, educational visits, and community activities. • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEND professionals to deliver personalised support. • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate • Experience supporting young people or vulnerable adults with SEND, ASD, ADHD, or additional learning needs. • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Patience, empathy, and resilience. • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning. • Confidence supporting students with varying levels of independence and communication. • Experience in education, care, support work, youth work, healthcare, hospitality, customer service, or sports coaching is highly desirable.
