Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Post-16 SEN College – Barking & Dagenham | From £89/day | Full-time | Long-term | September Start This Barking & Dagenham-based SEN college is seeking an energetic and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September. The college supports young people aged 16–25 with a wide range of learning needs including autism, MLD, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties, many of whom are working towards greater independence and employability. With a strong focus on functional skills, life skills, and community-based learning, this provision is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young adults and wants to make a long-term difference. There is free parking on-site and excellent transport links via the District line and Overground. In this role, you will be: • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups with literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills. • Assisting with practical learning activities like shopping, travel training, food prep, and workplace skills. • Promoting self-esteem, confidence, and independence both in and outside the classroom. • Working closely with tutors and therapists to track progress and encourage engagement. • Providing a calm, structured presence and supporting with emotional regulation when needed. We’re looking for someone who: • Has previous experience with post-16 learners or older students with SEND. • Is proactive, adaptable, and confident supporting independence-based programmes. • Can build strong, respectful relationships with young adults. • Brings creativity and a problem-solving mindset to their support role.
