Working Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm (including 30-minute break and 30-minute lunchtime duty)
Salary: £90 per day (PAYE)
Axcis Education is eagerly searching for a passionate and skilled Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic primary school based in Oldham, Lancashire. This role offers the chance to make a significant positive impact on the life of a child with Autism and complex behaviours.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one support to a KS1 student with Autism, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs.
2. Develop a strong, professional relationship with the child, promoting their engagement, confidence, and social skills.
3. Work collaboratively with the SENCO and class teacher to identify effective strategies for supporting the child's learning and behavioural needs.
4. Plan and deliver specific interventions to assist with the pupil's development, including speech, language, and phonics.
5. Contribute to the monitoring of the student's progress, adapting support as necessary and providing regular feedback to staff and parents.
6. Aid in creating a safe, nurturing classroom environment that enables the child to access the curriculum.
7. Manage challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner, establishing healthy boundaries and using de-escalation strategies.
8. Partake in lunchtime duties to provide consistent support throughout the school day.
9. Stay committed to ongoing professional development through CPD courses provided by the school.
Essential Criteria:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above.
- Proven experience supporting young people with additional needs in the UK educational system.
- A current DBS on the update service.
- Strong understanding of how to support children with Autism and manage complex behaviours.
- Ability to plan and deliver targeted interventions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to liaison with staff and contribute positively to the child's progress.
- Committed to continued education and development in the field of special educational needs.
Desired Qualifications/Experience:
- Specific training or experience in working with children on the Autism spectrum.
- Experience working in a school located in an area with high SEND needs and socioeconomic challenges.
