Job Title: Lunchtime Support Assistant, SEND School
Location: Sutton, Greater London Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:00am - 2:00pm (Term Time Only) Start Date: Tuesday 1st September Pay: From £14.25 per hour Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a caring and proactive Lunchtime Support Assistant to join a welcoming all-through SEND school in Sutton. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning needs. Working with children and young people across primary and secondary age groups, you will help create a positive, safe, and engaging lunchtime experience while encouraging independence, social interaction, and personal development. The school is well-resourced, has excellent facilities, and is committed to providing a nurturing environment where every pupil can thrive. Key Responsibilities • Supervise pupils during lunch breaks in the dining hall, playground, and other school areas. • Support pupils with eating, drinking, and developing independence skills. • Encourage positive social interaction, communication, and inclusive play. • Help pupils engage in structured and independent activities during unstructured times. • Support children and young people with autism, ADHD, communication needs, and complex SEND. • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing. • Ensure the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of pupils at all times. • Assist with transitions between lunchtime and classroom activities. • Work closely with teaching and support staff to provide consistent support. • Provide personal care support where required, ensuring pupils are treated with dignity and respect. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or complex learning difficulties. • Is patient, compassionate, and committed to supporting vulnerable learners. • Can build positive relationships and communicate effectively with pupils and staff. • Remains calm, positive, and resilient in a busy school environment. • Is comfortable supporting pupils with personal care needs. • Works well as part of a team and can use their initiative when required. • Has previous experience in education, childcare, health and social care, support work, or a similar setting.
