SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 5 (Autism Support, Non-Verbal Pupil)
Location: Primary School, N12
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Ongoing (until end of academic year)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with autism who is non-verbal. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, continuing through to the end of the academic year.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives the tailored support they need to access learning and thrive in a structured, nurturing environment.
We are looking for someone who:
Has prior experience supporting pupils with autism and complex communication needs
Can use or is open to learning communication aids (e.g. PECS, Widgit, visual timetables)
Is calm, patient, and adaptable, with a positive and encouraging approach
Demonstrates strong classroom presence and can build consistent, trusting relationships
Is confident working with pupils who require clear structure and routine
