Are you a compassionate individual with a background in medical care interested in making a difference within a school environment? We are seeking a dedicated Medical Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at a welcoming school located in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on an ad hoc basis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide general teaching assistant support as part of the school staff, demonstrating thoughtful engagement with all students.
- Administer care and specifically change a catheter for a young lady twice daily, ensuring her comfort and maintaining her dignity.
- Work closely with the school's health professionals to perform duties in accordance with established health care plans.
- Maintain accurate records of medical care provided and communicate any concerns or observations to the relevant staff.
- Establish a safe, nurturing environment that supports the student's educational and health needs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in changing catheters is essential – you must have performed this task previously.
- A caring and patient demeanor, with an interest in working within a school setting.
- Strong interest in supporting children's educational and medical needs.
- The ability to work ad hoc days, with flexibility regarding working hours.
- A current DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

We would consider a 9-3 working day for candidates who possess the necessary skill set to perform the required medical duties.
