Working Hours: 8:45 am - 4:15 pm
Salary: £85 - £100 per day (Dependent on Experience and Qualifications)
About the Role:
Join our alternative provision in Exeter as a Outreach teaching assistant to support and guide pupils aged 11 to 16 in overcoming social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This role is ideal for a compassionate and experienced individual looking to make a genuine impact on students who have encountered trauma or are struggling with SEMH difficulties. Help shape their futures in a positive, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging wellbeing sessions to enhance pupils' emotional resilience, self-esteem, and social skills.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to create a therapeutic and inclusive learning atmosphere.
• Apply a variety of strategies tailored to meet diverse SEMH needs.
• Work on a one-on-one basis with a student to build trusting relationships and promote personal growth and academic engagement.
• Inspire and motivate students to fully participate in their education and development.
• Assist students on a one-one basis in the community on outreach activities.
• Monitor and report on pupil progress, continually enhancing their educational experience.
• Build supportive and professional relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
Candidate Requirements:
• Demonstrated experience working with children or adults facing SEMH challenges.
• Strong ability to engage with children, especially those with challenging behaviours.
• Flexible and adaptive approach to meet students’ needs in various settings.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Committed to safeguarding and the welfare of young people.
