PMLD Teaching assistant Location: East London Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier by agreement) About the Role Axcis are seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at an all-age special school in East London. The successful candidate will support children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of pupils with complex needs, working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to support holistic development. Key Responsibilities 1. Provide tailored support to pupils with PMLD in classroom and therapy settings 2. Assist with personal care routines, feeding, and mobility support 3. Support students with sensory needs and communication strategies 4. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals 5. Help maintain a positive, respectful, and structured learning environment 6. Contribute to the preparation and adaptation of learning resources Person Specification 1. Proven experience working with children or young people with PMLD 2. Understanding of sensory and communication needs in special education 3. A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach 4. Strong teamwork and communication skills 5. Willingness to assist with personal care and medical routines. 6. Experience in using communication aids is advantageous What the school has to offer 1.
