Position: PMLD Teaching Assistant Location: Walton, Surrey Employment Type: Full-time (Monday?–?Friday, 08:00?–?15:30) Salary: Paid to Scale Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team in Walton, Surrey. The successful candidate will support the classroom teacher in delivering a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for students with complex needs, promoting independence, communication, and personal development. Key Responsibilities • Assist the teacher with planning and implementing individualized learning activities. • Provide one-to-one and group support, adapting resources to meet each pupil’s needs. • Facilitate daily routines, including personal care, mobility, and sensory activities. • Monitor and record student progress, contributing to pupil reports and care plans. • Maintain a safe, hygienic, and nurturing classroom environment in line with safeguarding policies. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and external agencies to ensure holistic support. Essential Qualifications & Skills • Level 3 (or higher) Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent). • Experience working with children/young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and individualized education plans. • Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork abilities. • Ability to follow health and safety, safeguarding, and confidentiality procedures. Desirable • First Aid and Safeguarding certifications. • Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools.
