Over the past year, several of our team have worked at this school on long-term assignments, with a number returning as permanent staff in the new academic year. They’ve consistently praised the friendly and inclusive staff team, and how quickly they felt part of the school community from day one. ________________________________________ About the role You’ll support pupils with a variety of additional needs — including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, or more complex profiles — on a 1:1 or small group basis. There may also be opportunities to work in the school’s inclusion room, providing tailored support for children with complex needs who access the curriculum differently from their mainstream peers. This role is ideal for graduates curious about teaching or SEND support, offering real-world classroom experience without the immediate commitment of teacher training. ________________________________________ What you’ll be doing daily • Providing personalised support to help pupils engage with their learning, including adapting tasks to suit individual needs • Supporting communication using tools like Makaton, PECS, or visual aids to help pupils express themselves and understand instructions • Assisting with behaviour management through calm, consistent approaches that promote emotional regulation and social skills • Helping pupils with personal care needs where required, ensuring dignity and comfort • Facilitating access to the inclusion room for pupils needing a quieter, more focused environment with specialist resources • Encouraging participation in creative and sensory activities designed to develop fine motor skills, communication, and confidence • Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver coordinated, effective support plans • Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress and sharing observations to help tailor future support ________________________________________ What you’ll learn • How children with additional needs engage and learn • Practical application of teaching strategies and differentiation • School routines and teamwork with teachers and therapists • The positive impact of inclusive education While this is not a teacher training programme, many schools offer clear progression routes into teaching for those interested. ________________________________________ Who we’re looking for This role suits graduates who: • Are interested in a career in education, child development, therapy, or social care • Want to gain experience working with SEND pupils • Are adaptable, reflective, and eager to learn • Enjoy building meaningful relationships with young people Previous experience in schools or care settings is helpful but not essential — your attitude and commitment are what count most. ________________________________________ Why choose Axcis Education? • Competitive weekly pay starting from £13.70 per hour • Dedicated, friendly consultants supporting you throughout your placement • Access to free training and CPD opportunities • Roles tailored to your skills, interests, and career goals • Clear progression pathways if you decide to move into teaching or other SEND careers INDBRI

If you are interested, then please click on the apply button and contact Laura Dowson on 0117 472 2400 l Ext: 2014.

If you are not interested in this role but know someone else who might be, don't forget that we offer £50 in shopping vouchers if you refer a friend to us and we place them in the job. For more details, contact your local Axcis office.

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and as such we do not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria.

The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
