Are you a Psychology graduate looking for a rewarding career where you can make a genuine difference? Do you have a passion for understanding behaviour, supporting children's emotional development and helping young people reach their potential?
Axcis Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 5–11 in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Horfield, Bristol. You will be supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism and learning disabilities.
Why is this ideal for Psychology graduates?
Your understanding of child development, human behaviour, emotional regulation and cognitive processes provides an excellent foundation for working with children who need additional support. You will have the opportunity to put your academic knowledge into practice, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships.
Discover a unique learning environment
This inclusive primary school places compassion, respect, perseverance and courage at the heart of its community.
Its approach to SEND includes personalised learning, speech and language interventions, autism support, SEMH provision and dedicated pastoral support. Children are encouraged to participate fully in school life, with individual adjustments to help everyone feel included.
The latest published Ofsted inspection, in April 2024, identified areas requiring improvement across the school. The school has since joined a new academy partnership in August 2025 and confirms that it has not yet undergone a further inspection. This offers an opportunity to contribute positively to a developing school community.
What makes a great Teaching Assistant?
Previous school experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who is:
• Patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient.
• Naturally compassionate and approachable.
• Positive, adaptable and willing to learn.
• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
• Motivated by making a genuine difference.
Your personality, values and attitude matter more than your experience.
