Job Title: School Support Worker
Job Title: Support Worker in schools Location: Exeter, Devon Job Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:30) Salary: Competitive We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our team in the Exeter area of Devon. As a Support Worker in local schools, you will play a crucial role in assisting students with additional needs to access the curriculum, participate in school activities, and promote their independence and personal development. Key Responsibilities: - Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support student learning activities. - Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). - Encourage the inclusion of all students within the classroom and wider school environment. - Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). - Monitor and report on the progress of students. - Prepare learning materials and resources as directed by the teacher. - Assist in creating a safe and engaging learning environment for all students. - Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents where necessary. - Accompany students on school trips and ensure their safety and well-being. - Attend training sessions and professional development workshops to enhance skills and knowledge. - Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times. - Promote positive behavior and support the development of social skills. - Carry out any other duties within the scope of the role as directed by the school management. Education & Qualifications: - NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is desirable. - Previous experience working with children, or vulnerable adults particularly those with SEND, is preferred. - A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one. Skills & Abilities: - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - A supportive and patient approach to student development. - An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies. - Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively. - Creative problem-solving abilities. - Flexibility and adaptability to work with a variety of needs and situations.
