About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and adaptable Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic secondary school. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students across KS3 and KS4, working closely with teaching staff to ensure all learners are able to achieve their potential.
This role will involve providing 1:1 support, small group interventions, and in-class assistance, particularly for students with additional learning needs (SEND), including Autism, ADHD, social and emotional needs, and speech and language challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning and close attainment gaps.
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND, adapting strategies to meet their individual needs.
- Assist with behaviour management, promoting a positive and safe learning environment.
- Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to teachers and parents where appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of resources and classroom materials.
- Support students during non-classroom activities such as break and lunch times, trips, or extracurricular activities.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a secondary school setting or with young people aged 11–16.
- Strong knowledge of the national curriculum at KS3 and KS4.
- Understanding of a range of special educational needs and strategies to support them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff and students.
- Ability to manage behaviour in a calm, professional, and consistent manner.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent).
