Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Year 4 (SEMH Support)
Location: Brent | Start Date: After May Half-Term | Term-Time Only
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brent is looking to appoint a dedicated, full-time Teaching Assistant to provide consistent 1:1 support for a student in Year 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in a child’s life and is confident supporting pupils with additional needs in a structured, nurturing environment.
The Role
- In this rewarding position, you will:
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement a personalised support plan
- Support the pupil throughout the school day, both in and out of class
- Help the student with emotional regulation, focus, and task completion
- Build a trusting, positive relationship that encourages resilience, confidence, and independence
- Contribute to ongoing progress reviews and collaborate with school staff, external agencies, and the child’s family to ensure consistent, joined-up support
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ideally in a school or youth work setting
- Confident using behaviour management strategies in a calm, positive manner
- Patient, empathetic, and consistent – especially during moments of dysregulation
- Understanding of ADHD, autism, or attachment-related needs is desirable but not essential

Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time (term-time only)
Location: Brent
