We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive team in Wandsworth, London. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored assistance to students with diverse educational needs, fostering a nurturing learning environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and academic achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer personalized support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring their engagement in curriculum and attainment of educational goals.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
• Develop strategies to manage challenging behaviour in collaboration with the SENCO and other professionals.
• Facilitate small group sessions and one-to-one interventions, addressing social skills and emotional literacy.
• Promote a culture of empathy and respect, facilitating positive relationships between students.
• Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the adaptation of resources to meet individual learning requirements.
• Liaise with parents, guardians, and external agencies to support the holistic development of students.
Requirements:
• Relevant qualification in education, psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience working with children with SEMH needs.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and commitment to child welfare.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a varied workload.
• Enhanced DBS clearance is required for this role.
