Are you a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with SEMH and behavioural needs?
Axcis Education is working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in the St George area of Bristol (BS5) to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support Key Stage 2 pupils.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and develop the confidence, emotional regulation and positive behaviours they need to succeed in school.
About the Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to KS2 pupils with SEMH needs
• Help pupils manage emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement with learning
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and act as a consistent role model
• Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Use positive behaviour strategies and clear, consistent boundaries
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team
• Help create a calm, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
• Encourage pupils to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who:
• Has experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs
• Is calm, patient and resilient when faced with challenging situations
• Can establish strong and trusting relationships with primary-aged children
• Has a good understanding of positive behaviour management and emotional regulation
• Is consistent, approachable and able to maintain clear boundaries
• Works effectively as part of a wider school team
• Is passionate about supporting children's emotional wellbeing alongside their education
