Our client is a large all-through Academy based in Exeter within a beautiful location with fantastic facilities. They are currently looking to recruit a SENCO to join their well respected and forward-thinking organisation. The SEN department covers mainstream pupils with MLD, ADHD, ASD and SEMH.
The school are creating a specialist SEND Hub and you will work with the existing SENCO to develop the needs of the school, with providing extensive SEND support for staff, parents and pupils being a core part of the role. A large part of the role will be admin based where you will be will also oversee the writing, regular review, and monitoring of individual education, behaviour, health and care plans, including reviewing changes and progression with parents and carers.
You be working in a large, supportive and engaged team of teachers keen to continually evolve the systems and structures to ensure they are consistently excellent.
The right candidate will be experienced and familiar with SEND practices and systems with a full understanding of how to meet children's needs. Your personal and communication skills will be vitally important to the role, with excellent written and verbal communication being a requirement. This role will involve significant leadership and some line management responsibility, and you will be provided with every opportunity to develop professionally. The position also includes coordinating SEN best practice across SEN Team members. You will be joining a passionate and committed staff team that have a child-centred approach.
Qualified to at least degree level
Qualified to work in the UK
QTS or equivalent
National SENCO Award PGCip
Evidence of substantial and relevant CPD related to SEN.
Start Date: ASAP
Contract - full time, interim until Easter 2020 with the opportunity to become permanent
Salary: Circa 30k to 33k
