SEND TA – Autism & Mental Health | Havering | From £92/day | Secondary | Havering | September Start | Full-Time | Long-Term
We are recruiting on behalf of a mainstream secondary school in Havering with an integrated SEND provision, who are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support a student with autism and co-occurring mental health needs. This dual-diagnosis role requires a thoughtful, calm, and emotionally intelligent TA who can support the student academically, emotionally and socially. The school has a warm, team-oriented environment and excellent leadership, with a 'Good' Ofsted rating. It is walking distance from Overground and bus links, and has staff parking available.
In this role, you will be:
• Supporting a Year 8 student with ASD and anxiety.
• Helping with emotional regulation, classroom engagement and social interaction.
• Encouraging independence while maintaining safe boundaries and support.
• Liaising with SENCO, teachers, and external agencies when required.
• Keeping accurate records to monitor wellbeing and academic progress.
What we’re looking for:
• Experience with ASD and/or mental health needs (anxiety, depression, school refusal).
• Emotionally resilient with a nurturing, encouraging approach.
• Excellent communicator and active team player.
• Understanding of sensory needs, routines and positive behaviour support.
