Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
A specialist all-through school in Reading is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time from September 2025. With a daily pay rate from £89 (PAYE), this long-term role offers consistent weekday hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm) and the possibility of a permanent contract. The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with a wide range of complex needs, including autism, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, SEMH, cerebral palsy and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Your support will be varied and hands-on—from helping pupils engage in classroom tasks and sensory activities to assisting with personal care and encouraging independence in daily routines. Some pupils may use communication aids or require support with mobility, so adaptability and a calm, respectful approach are essential. You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists and families to help create a consistent, supportive environment for each young person. Whether you're building communication strategies, encouraging emotional regulation, or supporting therapy sessions and outings, your input will make a real difference. Previous experience supporting young people with SEND—whether in education, care or youth settings—is essential. A TA qualification or driving licence is a bonus, but not required.
