Salary: £89+ per day (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)

Role Overview:
Axcis Education is recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with physical disabilities at a mainstream primary school in Canning Town. This role is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and skilled TA who is eager to help a pupil overcome barriers to learning and participate fully in school life.
The school is committed to inclusion and provides excellent resources and support for pupils with physical needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and parents to ensure the pupil’s educational and personal needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day to a pupil with physical disabilities
Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, mobility, and feeding (training and support provided)
Support access to all areas of the curriculum by adapting tasks and providing physical assistance where necessary
Use specialist equipment such as wheelchairs, standing frames, or communication aids safely and confidently
Promote independence, social interaction, and positive behaviour in line with the pupil’s individual goals
Support the pupil during physical therapy sessions and liaise with therapists to reinforce exercises and strategies
Maintain accurate records of support provided and pupil progress, contributing to EHCP reviews and meetings
Support the pupil during lunchtime, breaks, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and inclusion
Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, therapists, and family to create a consistent and supportive environment

Person Specification:
Experience working with children with physical disabilities or complex medical needs in a school or care setting
Confidence in delivering personal care and supporting mobility (training can be provided)
Knowledge of health and safety requirements relating to manual handling and use of specialist equipment
Patient, empathetic, and committed to promoting independence
Good communication skills and ability to liaise with professionals and families effectively
Flexible, reliable, and proactive approach to supporting pupils’ individual needs
Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to apply
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning are advantageous but not essential
