Position: SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Hampton, Greater London Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 08:00?–?15:30 Salary: Paid to scale (according to experience and qualifications) Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant Hampton primary school. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will provide targeted support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum, develop independence, and thrive socially and academically. Key Responsibilities • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons for SEND pupils. • Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies. • Provide one-to-one or small-group support, adapting resources and materials as required. • Foster a safe, inclusive environment, promoting positive behaviour and peer interaction. • Record progress, share observations with senior staff, and contribute to assessment reviews. • Support pupils during transitions (e.g., arrival, lunch, exit) and liaise with external professionals when needed. • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events. Person Specification • Experience working with children who have SEND, preferably in a mainstream setting. • Relevant qualification (e.g., Level?3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent). • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education.
