Pay: £14.25-£14.95 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young children with additional learning needs?
Axcis Education is recruiting a dedicated EYFS / KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Weymouth. The provision supports pupils with moderate learning difficulties (MLD) and associated additional needs, providing a nurturing, structured and engaging environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their potential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with younger children and understands the importance of early intervention in helping pupils develop communication, independence and confidence.
As an EYFS / KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support children with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and associated additional needs throughout the school day
• Deliver one-to-one and small group learning activities tailored to individual abilities
• Encourage the development of early communication, literacy, numeracy and social skills
• Use practical, sensory and play-based learning approaches to engage pupils
• Support children's emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour
• Help pupils develop independence with learning and everyday routines
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEND team to deliver personalised support
• Record pupil progress and contribute to individual education plans
• Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment where children can thrive
The successful candidate will have:
• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs in a school or specialist setting
• Knowledge of Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism (ASC), speech and language needs or other developmental needs
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children and colleagues
• A genuine passion for supporting young children with additional needs
Desirable Experience
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Experience within EYFS, Key Stage 1 or a specialist provision
• Knowledge of sensory learning, visual communication strategies or Makaton
