Staff work closely together, and the successful teacher will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, a proactive SENCO and a leadership team that understands the importance of high-quality SEND provision.
This role would suit a teacher who enjoys working creatively, can adapt learning to meet individual needs and is confident leading a small class of pupils with a range of special educational needs.
About the Role
As the SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, highly differentiated lessons within the school’s SEN unit. Pupils may have needs including autism, communication difficulties, learning delays, sensory processing differences and social or emotional needs.
You will:
• Teach a small group of primary-aged pupils within a dedicated SEN unit
• Plan and deliver personalised lessons linked to individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes
• Use structured routines, visual supports and practical learning activities
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and independence
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants to create consistency throughout the school day
• Liaise with the SENCO, parents and external professionals where required
• Track progress carefully and contribute to reviews, reports and support plans
What We’re Looking For
• QTS / QTLS, or strong SEND teaching experience
• Experience teaching pupils with autism, complex needs or learning difficulties
• Confidence planning differentiated and practical lessons
• Strong classroom leadership and behaviour management
• Ability to work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and wider school staff
• A calm, patient and reflective teaching style
• Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-supported SEN unit where your teaching can make a genuine difference. If you are a SEND Teacher looking for a long-term role in Havering and want to work in a setting where inclusion is truly valued, apply today to be considered.
