Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Key Stage 3, Autism and Challenging Behaviour
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-to-1 basis with a Key Stage 3 student with autism and challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will work closely with SENCO and the class teacher to provide tailored support to enable the pupil to access the curriculum and make progress. Key Responsibilities: • Supporting the pupil on a 1-to-1 basis throughout the school day, in the classroom and around the school. • Implementing individual behaviour plans and providing support to manage the pupil's behaviour and emotions effectively. • Supporting the pupil to develop their social and communication skills, and their ability to regulate their emotions. • Monitoring the pupil's progress and maintaining accurate records of achievements and areas for development. • Working closely with SENCO and class teacher to ensure a consistent approach to supporting the pupil's needs. • Being prepared to manage situations where the pupil may run off. Essential Requirements: • UK experience of working with pupils with autism and challenging behaviour. • Knowledge and understanding of strategies for managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive behaviour. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents. • A patient, caring, and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to the needs of the individual pupil. • An understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. • Enhanced DBS Registered on the update service Desirable Requirements: • A relevant qualification in education or special educational needs. • Experience of using visual supports and other communication aids to support pupils with autism. • Knowledge and understanding of a range of special educational needs.
