Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire Employment Type: Full-Time School: SEMH Pay: £90 per day PAYE We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a thriving SEMH school located in Salisbury, Wiltshire. The suitable candidate will provide support in a dynamic classroom environment, catering to a diverse group of students aged between 4 to 19 years old, who have a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs. Responsibilities: - Assist in preparing and delivering engaging educational sessions alongside the lead teacher. - Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. - Maintain a supportive and nurturing learning environment that is sensitive to the individual needs of SEMH students. - Implement positive behaviour strategies and support students in managing their emotions and behaviour. - Collaborate effectively with the teaching team and other support staff to plan and coordinate activities and outings, if applicable. - Assist in the development and tracking of Individual Education Plans for students, ensuring that these are tailored to each child’s unique needs. - Use a variety of instructional aides and methods to engage students in the learning process while catering to their individual learning styles. - Participate in supervision during break times to ensure the safety and well-being of the students. - Encourage independence and self-confidence in students while fostering a sense of accomplishment. - Provide feedback to teachers on students' progress and participate in student assessments. - Assist with the preparation of teaching resources and maintenance of classroom tidiness. - Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. - Work with other professionals, such as therapists or counsellors, as necessary to support student development. - Communicate effectively with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress and discussing strategies to support learning at home. Qualifications: - Understanding and experience working with children and young adults with SEMH needs. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children alike. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. - Commitment to ongoing professional development. - A proactive and creative approach to teaching and supporting students. - Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
