Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Yeovil, Somerset Type: Full-Time Pay: £90 per day PAYE Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health support to join a vibrant and supportive educational setting in Yeovil, Somerset. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the educational growth and emotional wellbeing of students with varied SEMH needs. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the delivery of tailored educational activities, working closely with the lead teacher to support individual learning plans for SEMH students. - Provide one-to-one support and small group sessions, focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, and academic achievement. - Implement strategies to engage students in learning, including the use of therapeutic and behaviour management techniques. - Monitor and report on the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to review meetings. - Collaborate with other professionals, such as educational psychologists, to ensure a holistic approach to each student's needs. - Adapt resources and teaching methods to meet the diverse and individual needs of SEMH students. - Support the creation and maintenance of a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters respect, empathy, and understanding. - Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans. - Manage any challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner, in line with school policies and procedures. - Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in SEMH support. Qualifications & Skills: - Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting with SEMH focus. - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with students. - Good understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to child protection. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to liaise with staff, parents, and outside agencies. - Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. - A patient, empathetic approach to supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges.
