Job Title: Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Bournemouth, Dorset Start Date: January 2026 – for the remainder of the academic year Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs? A highly-regarded mainstream school in Bournemouth is seeking a skilled and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their specialist resource provision from January through to the end of the academic year. This rewarding role involves providing consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), as well as assisting small groups of children with speech, language, and communication needs. You’ll work closely with an established and supportive SEND team, making a real impact on pupils’ progress and confidence every day. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality 1:1 support to a pupil with ASC, helping them access learning and achieve their full potential in a mainstream setting. Work collaboratively with the specialist resource provision team to implement tailored strategies that meet individual learning goals. Support pupils in developing communication, social, and emotional skills, both in class and during small group sessions. Adapt and prepare learning materials to suit individual needs, ensuring an inclusive and accessible classroom environment. Track progress and contribute to regular reviews with the class teacher and SENDCO. Provide structured support during transitions and unstructured times, promoting independence and positive engagement. Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development to enhance best practice in SEND support. About You: Substantial experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition and/or speech and language needs. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships. Confident implementing personalised strategies and supporting children in a variety of settings. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Relevant TA or SEND qualifications are advantageous but not essential for the right candidate. An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
