Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Special School Teaching Assistants – Stockport Start Date: January 2026 Axcis Education are recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in a Special School setting in Stockport, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a genuine difference in education. About the Role: You will be supporting students across a broad and engaging curriculum, helping them to access learning and develop essential life skills in a safe, nurturing environment. You will actively support students in the full range of curriculum activities across the school, including but not limited to: • Classroom-based lessons • Physical lessons such as swimming, cycling, and outdoor activities • Working with students with Autism, multi-sensory impairments, physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties, and non-verbal communication needs • Supporting the development of communication skills, social skills, flexible thinking, and problem-solving abilities To be Successful in the Role You’ll Need: • Experience within a care or education workplace setting (not essential but desirable) • First-hand experience of complex needs, learning disabilities, sensory impairments, or autistic spectrum conditions • Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour • Enthusiasm, determination, and resilience • Empathy and strong self-awareness • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues Why Work with Axcis Education? • Specialist SEND recruitment agency • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant • Opportunities for long-term and permanent roles • Competitive pay rates (£95-£100 per day, PAYE) If you’re compassionate, committed, and looking for a meaningful role within a Special School environment, we’d love to hear from you.
