Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Classroom Support (Autism Focus) – Tower Hamlets
£92–£102 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Primary
Axcis are recruiting for a confident and intuitive SEND Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Tower Hamlets, supporting both mainstream pupils and those with autism and additional learning needs.
This is not a static 1:1 role — the school is seeking someone who can scan the classroom, use initiative and proactively identify where support is needed. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining engagement, supporting behaviour and ensuring pupils with additional needs can access learning.
The school has strong behaviour systems, supportive leadership and a collaborative team culture.
In this role, you will:
• Support pupils with autism within mainstream lessons
• Use initiative to identify and support pupils requiring additional guidance
• Promote emotional regulation and classroom engagement
• Assist with differentiated activities and group work
• Work closely with the class teacher to maintain a calm learning environment
What we’re looking for:
• Experience supporting pupils with autism in mainstream settings
• Ability to think ahead and act proactively
• Strong classroom awareness and behaviour support skills
• Confident communication and teamwork
• Commitment to full-time, long-term work
An excellent opportunity for a TA who thrives in busy classrooms and enjoys being an active, hands-on support presence.
