Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – Charmouth
Location: Charmouth
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:45pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £14.25 – £14.98 per hour

We are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Charmouth that is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing environment where every child is supported to succeed, both academically and personally.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in supporting pupils with additional needs and helping to maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing tailored support to pupils with a range of SEND needs
• Supporting small groups and 1:1 learning activities
• Implementing and maintaining effective behaviour management strategies
• Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
• Working closely with teachers to deliver inclusive and engaging lessons
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to support pupil development
• Helping to create a safe, calm and supportive classroom environment
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings both compassion and confidence into the classroom.
You will:
• Have experience using behaviour management strategies (such as de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement, or structured routines)
• Be calm, patient and consistent when supporting pupils with additional needs
• Be proactive, adaptable and able to think on your feet
• Communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
This role is ideal for candidates from backgrounds such as:
• Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants
• Care or support work
• Youth work or mentoring
• Sports coaching
• Emergency services or roles involving behaviour management
